The 203 is the classic Ercol Easy Chair, first launched in 1953 and manufactured until the early 1980’s. The 1956 catalogue describes it as an “easy chair with a deep seat and extra comfortable, fabric reinforced rubber suspension”. Made from beech and like Wengner’s J16 rocker takes it design cues like the spindle back and generous proportions from the historic Windsor Chair.
This example from the late 60’s or early 70’s in a natural finish has been restored, hand finished with a light shellac and wax with new Pirellei webbing. The new cushion has been upholstered with a duo of tweeds from Bute’s contemporary cocktail collection resulting in a smart reversible seat.
